Ata Chokhachian
Ata Chokhachian is a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He conducts postdoctoral research at MIT, focusing on applying new computational and sensing methods to quantify the links between microclimate conditions and willingness to walk in cities.
Previously, from 2015 to 2023, he was a research associate at the Technical University of Munich, contributing to the Chair of Building Technology and Climate Responsive Design and the Chair for Architecture Informatics. In 2022, he completed his Ph.D., focusing on experimental and simulation-based methods to assess outdoor thermal comfort—an approach that has evolved into Climatewalks.
In 2020, he founded Climateflux, a company offering platforms for acquiring and integrating microclimatic knowledge into design and planning. His expertise lies in developing and implementing decision-making tools that assist architects and urban planners in designing more resilient, walkable, and comfortable cities.
