David Lafond

Born and raised in Montréal, David Lafond is pursuing a Masters of Architecture at MIT SA+P and a certificate in Product Management at MIT Sloan. He is currently working as a research assistant in design & data visualization at the MIT Senseable City Lab. His interests revolve around design, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Prior to MIT, David received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at McGill University, where he worked as a software tutor, product designer, and research lead at the Computational Design Exploratory (CoDEx) under Professor Theodora Vardouli, developing prototypes that leverage LLMs and GenAI in architectural design for collaborative design decision-making.

During his undergraduate studies, David worked as an urban innovation designer at Tekuma Frenchman, an MIT spinout specializing in smart city design and urban innovation across China, Africa, and the Middle East, addressing regional issues like coastal vulnerability, digital literacy, and climate resilience. He also worked as a junior architect on multi-family housing developments across Québec and co-founded McGill University's Cellar Architectural Journal (CAJ) - a student-run design research publication.
