Yana Buchatska

Visiting Scholar

Yana Buchatska is an architect, researcher, set designer, and co-founder of Sets Studio since 2020. She is Ukrainian and based in Amsterdam, is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, at the MIT Architecture Department, at Self-Assembly Lab. Her research focuses on flexible assemblies applicable to the natural disaster context. 

With various projects ranging from urban strategies and public spaces to exhibitions and scenography, Yana explores new ways of human interaction and generating new identities.

Yana is a co-author of the House of Europe Mobile Pavilion and previously worked at Veneer studio in Rotterdam and FORMA bureau on cultural and industrial area redevelopment projects. For three years, Yana was a representative of EASA in Ukraine (European Assembly of Students of Architects) and in 2021 co-organized the SESAM architectural assembly for 250 students in Slavutych. Since 2022, she has been working with the Re.Mariupol team on the vision of the city's post-war reconstruction.
